The Mike Yanou Foundation celebrated a significant milestone on Friday, August 25th, 2023. A joyous graduation and certificate award ceremony for their BoysEngage Arts Training Program was celebrated at its office premises.

The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Mdm Abubatoi Sharri, Mr. Shey Lesley of Lesley’s Foundation, Mr. Joseph of BlueMoon and the Foundation’s own drug free schools and communities project Ambassador Penboy. It was a vibrant affair filled with jubilation, as the foundation recognized the accomplishments of three talented young individuals.

The BoysEngage Arts Training Program, part of the foundation’s holistic approach to addressing the root problem of gender-based violence, focuses on nurturing creativity and providing essential life skills. Through art, these boys have discovered a whole new world of self-expression, personal growth, and potential, marking their journey of transformation.

Mr. Shey Lesley, founder of Lesley’s Foundation, delivered a message during the ceremony, highlighting the significance of their artwork. “You might think these beautiful drawings of yours are just drawings,” he shared, “but there is more meaning and beauty in it than what you see.” These words resonated deeply, affirming the impact that art can have on personal development and societal change.

The Mike Yanou Foundation recognizes that absent fathers and father figures can pose challenges for boys growing up, leading to issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, mental health struggles, domestic violence, and financial instability. By establishing BoysEngage Clubs in schools and communities, the foundation aims to provide a safe space for boys to receive psychosocial support, sensitization, and awareness on these critical matters.

Moreover, the foundation’s dedicated efforts extend beyond art. Trainings, career orientation, mentorship, and economic inclusion opportunities are provided to address the financial struggles faced by these boys, fostering resilience and a path towards a brighter future.

The BoysEngage Arts Training Program graduation encapsulated the culmination of hard work, determination, and personal growth. The ceremony brought forth an overwhelming sense of joy, pride, and accomplishment, not only for the graduates but also for the Mike Yanou Foundation and its mission to create prosperous communities with functional families.

As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our congratulations to the incredible graduates and express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported the BoysEngage Arts Training Program and the Mike Yanou Foundation’s mission, This Includes APWAL and Zoe Communications. Together, we continue to empower boys, nurture their creativity, and build a better future for all.
