Mike Yanou Foundation visits Kingston Secondary Buea

The students at Kingston Bilingual School actively participated in the Drug Free School and Community Sensitization Campaign.

The students at Kingston Bilingual School actively participated in the Drug Free School and Community Sensitization Campaign.

Students and Teachers were reached out by the Mike Yanou Foundation and partner, Lesley Foundation in the fight to prevent and reduce substance misuse among young people.

Through a participatory approach, the students shared some of the known consequences of drug addiction, including lung destruction, poverty, mental instability, death, cancer, and depression.
Whereby some of the students could recount as follows:
“I have a brother who has been smoking cigarettes for the past five years, and noticed that he has grown pale and looks disturbed,” a student said.
An another could add that, ” I have learnt alot about drugs from our sharing including recounting the fact of my sister having to take overdosage of drugs once.

Based on the overall analysis, the young people despite their age range had an indepth understanding about drug abuse from what they see in their neighbourhood, their families and communities as a whole
