As part of our efforts to foster inclusivity, our team in Kumbo marked Menstrual Hygiene Day while building on the momentum from the International Day of the Boy Child.
Recognising the value of educating boys about menstrual hygiene, we aimed to create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Participants engaged in educational talks that shed light on struggles often hidden behind a seemingly tough exterior.
The talks covered key topics such as:
– Challenging toxic masculinities and promoting safe conversations for men and boys
– The importance of menstrual hygiene
– Breaking the stigma and silence around menstruation
The event also featured drama performances, where boys demonstrated social ills like alcoholism and immorality, as well as football matches that promoted teamwork and camaraderie. Hygiene kits were distributed, showcasing the community’s spirit.
By bringing everyone together, we sought to create an environment where individuals understand each other’s struggles, treat each other with empathy, and respect one another. The massive turnout was a testament to the community’s enthusiasm and commitment.
We equally want to appreciate Clarisse Ndinge and other partners for putting a smile on the face of these future fathers and fatherly figures.
