The power of radio outreach was evident when Mr. Nsuh Patrick, Vice President of the Cameroon National Association of the Blind and Head of the Buea Branch, tuned into our recent radio session on “Reducing HIV/AIDS Stigma Within Communities.”
Inspired by the insightful discussion, Mr. Patrick reached out to the Mike Yanou Foundation, acknowledging the impact of our work and expressing interest in exploring potential collaborations.
Today, we were honored to welcome Mr. Patrick to our organization, marking the beginning of a promising partnership that extends beyond health and into the realm of disability inclusion.
He emphasized the need for disability inclusion, particularly for women with disabilities, and proposed exploring income-generating activities to empower them.
Our discussion also shed light on critical issues affecting people with visual impairments, including:
– Suicidal thoughts and mental health concerns
– Social isolation, with many individuals being single and helpless
– Limited access to education for children with disabilities
– The need for specialized materials to support inclusive education
The Mike Yanou Foundation is committed to addressing these challenges and promoting inclusive development. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive community for all. This would all not have been possible without funding from Gilead Sciences
