The Mike Yanou Foundation team made its stop at Middle Farms!
With its close-knit residences, it faces unique challenges like the lack of awareness and education about HIV/AIDS that can perpetuate stigma, fear and misinformation. That is why, with funding from Gilead Sciences, our team was determined to make a difference.
As we began our session, community members started trickling in. Some filled the benches provided while others gathered around us, eager to listen, learn and know what we were all about.
Our health specialist led the discussion, addressing common misconceptions and myths surrounding HIV/AIDS.
The community members listened intently, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own experiences. With smiles widened as we offered them some light refreshments, they expressed gratitude for our efforts and asked to have us back again.
We left with a sense of pride and fulfilment, knowing that our efforts would have a ripple effect in the community.
