The Mike Yanou Foundation recently held a health talk at the Cameroon Association of the Blind, Buea Branch, as part of the Gilead Health and Social Cohesion Initiative. Our goal was to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, address misconceptions, and promote inclusive healthcare practices for persons with visual impairments.
We provided accurate information on prevention strategies and the importance of early detection, discussed the barriers faced by persons with visual impairments and the need for inclusive healthcare practices.
We also stressed on the importance of promoting a culture of acceptance and support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
The session was well-received, with participants expressing appreciation for the health information presented. We also identified a need for more accessible health materials in braille and audio formats.
The health talk was a successful initiative aimed at empowering persons with disabilities through health awareness. We look forward to continued support and education to promote health equity and accessibility in our community.
