Empowering Women and Girls in Sports and Play

BONAVADA FOOTBALL for HEALTH TOURNAMENT (12th Annual Edition – 2024) transcends the boundaries of mere sports. It is a strategy used to contribute to the #SDG5 which is Gender Equality. It creates a platform where women are not only part of the organizing committee but are officiating the games and partaking in the competition through their various teams. Their participation and involvement will contribute in the following ways;

Women’s sports participation fosters empowerment, boosts self-confidence, and increases leadership skills. Engaging in football and other activities gives them more power and contributes to their well-being.

Beyond physical fitness, sports promote mental health and overall well-being. Women’s involvement in the BONAVADA Football for Health Tournament encourages healthy lifestyles and provides an opportunity for stress relief.

Women strengthen community bonds by playing alongside men and contributing to team development. Their presence fosters unity, trust, and social cohesion.

The tournament serves as an educational platform. Women learn about healthy lifestyles, HIV/AIDS reduction, and Gender Based Violence with SDG3’s emphasis on good health and well-being.

Involving women challenges stereotypes and promotes equality. It sends a powerful message that women can excel in sports and leadership roles, breaking down all barriers.
