The Mike Yanou Foundation in partnership with M3AF Africare Association had a community engagement with the widows of the Babanki community in the Mezam Division. Under its project aimed at empowering widows and minority groups, the first phase of helping widows unlock their potential and embrace new possibilities was launched. The overall project, which covers 6 communities in the NW and SW regions of Cameroon involves providing widows with Mental Health and Psychosocial Support services.
Through a participatory approach, we were able to identify the challenges which widows in Babanki faced, alongside possible mitigative strategies as suggested by the community stakeholders.
The impact was tremendous as we capacitated over 40 widows; providing them with comprehensive knowledge on GBV among others. Through the generosity of our sponsors, we were able to provide counselling services and distribute food items and Non-food items among others.
Join us as we continue to reach out to more widows in more communities around the North West and South West Region.
