The Executive Director of the Mike Yanou Foundation had the opportunity to be one of the speakers at the African Widows submit. Her contributions were enormous as she proposed possible solutions to help widows in Cameroon, especially in the conflict Region of Cameroon. She pointed out the need:
– To educate and empower widows to rise above the societal norms and negative practices that surround widowhood. She stated that it was important for widows to stop seeing themselves as victims which in a way is already a stigma and rather supports one another to rise above all limitations.
– She sided with the importance of engaging men to break the negative cultural practices and stigmatization widows faced. She concluded by saying engaging men is an important aspect if we must see functional families with prosperous communities
